Today, Medicare and Medicaid waste, fraud and abuse cost American taxpayers tens of billions of dollars.
On Monday, December 10, 2012 organizations representing millions of
older Americans, minorities, patients and veterans sent a letter to House
and Senate leadership urging Congress to make strengthening Medicare and
Medicaid program integrity a top priority.
Congressional leaders, the Administration, and community advocates have proposed strong measures to fight Medicare and Medicaid waste, fraud and abuse.
This direction should be taken before any dollar is taken from America's seniors and people with disabilities or the benefits they depend upon.
Americans overwhelmingly support program integrity reform and enforcement as a way to protect patients and generate savings. So do we. And so should Congress.
Billions of Medicare dollars are lost to fraud and abuse. Congress should achieve savings through program integrity reform ‹ not beneficiary cost burdens or benefit cuts.
